H&MS-36 Avionics 1969
Since its activation in 1952, MALS-36 has provided logistical support and Intermediate Maintenence for the squadrons of Marine Aircraft Group 36. From 1966 to 1969, H&MS-36 was heavily involved in the war in Vietnam. The squadron moved to its present home, Okinawa, with MAG-36 in 1969. MALS-36 also supports the aviation units of the 31st MEU.
Activated 2 June 1952 at Santa Ana,
California, as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Marine
Aircraft Group 36.
Redesignated 15 February 1954 as Headquarters and Maintenance
Squadron 36.
Deployed to Vietnam 1966
Relocated to Futenma, Okinawa during 1969.
Redesignated 1988 as Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36,
Marine Aircraft Group 36, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.
