Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 was formed in 1972, at
New River, North Carolina, as Headquarters and Maintenance
Squadron 29. It received its current designation in 1986. The
squadron provides administrative and logistics support, as well
as performing Intermediate Level Maintenance tasks for the
squadrons of MAG-29.
During the Gulf War (1990-91), MALS-29 was temporarily transferred to MAG-26 and was deployed to Saudi Arabia.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003), MALS-29 deployed to Kuwait and Iraq with MAG-29.
Activated 1 May 1972 at New River, North
Carolina, as Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron 29, and
assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing,
Redesignated 5 Jun 1986 as Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing.
Reassigned during November 1990 to Marine Aircraft Group 26.
Deployed during December 1990 to Saudi Arabia
Participated in Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, December 1990 - Mar 1991.
Reassigned during Mar 1991 to Marine Aircraft Group 29.
Participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003).
